Born in Penola, Johnson was a lifelong resident of Caroline County. After a brief time working for Rappahannock Electric Cooperative, he retired after a long career in home construction and real estate. In 1996, he was honored by the Caroline Chamber of Commerce as Business Person of the Year. Known for his wit and good nature, Johnson enjoyed golf with his many friends and never let health issues affect him or his personality. He is survived by his sister Mary Frances Coleman; his children, Susan Coleman Bowman (Jeff), Sarah Coleman Jarvis (Rick), Lindsay Coleman Welch (Chris) and Frederick Johnson Coleman III; his grandchildren, Laura Bowman, Caroline Blake (Matt), Emily Bowman, Matt Bowman, Molly Jarvis, Annie Jarvis and Maddie Jarvis, great grandchild, Harper Blake and former spouse, Patsy Utley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Elizabeth Coleman, his infant son, John Patrick Coleman, his brother, Wilson Coleman, his sister, Phyllis Coleman Patterson and former spouse, Kathleen Wentworth His wishes were to be cremated and a celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, January 5th at 2:00pm in the Bowling Green chapel of Storke Funeral Home with a gathering of family and friends to immediately follow.

His wishes were to be cremated and a celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, January 5th at 2:00pm in the Bowling Green chapel of Storke Funeral Home with a gathering of family and friends to immediately follow.
