Sara Catherine Smith, 80, of King George, VA passed away on January 17, 2023 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Catherine was born on November 1, 1942 in Vidalia, Georgia to William Thomas & Sara Lou McArthur McBride.

After many years of service, Catherine retired from the State of North Carolina. Catherine also enjoyed volunteering with Greystone Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC.

Catherine is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Dr. Wayne C. Smith; her parents; and a grandson, Tavener Mangum.

Survivors include her son, Christopher and his wife Gemma Smith; daughter, Kimberly and her husband Corey Garner; grandchildren, Ian Smith, Logan Garner, and MacKenna Garner.

Services will be on Saturday, March 18, 2023, 11 AM at Greystone Baptist Church, 7509 Lead Mine Road, Raleigh, NC 27615.
