Catherine Mountjoy Burrell, 78, of King George, passed away at Mary Washington Hospital, on Thursday, March 2, 2023 surrounded by her family.  Daughter to the late Woodrow and Myrtle Mountjoy, Catherine was raised by her beloved aunt, the late Ruth Wilkerson.

In addition to her parents and aunt, Catherine was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 54 years Thomas Monroe Burrell; brother Robert Mountjoy; and sister Juanita Jones.

Catherine is survived by her son Thomas Burrell, II and wife Anissa; daughter Tina Sisson and husband Dale; grandchildren Bradley, Brittney (Onofre), Jenna, Kyle, Trey; and sisters Barbara Turner and Carolyn Rouse (Walter).

Catherine went by several names – Cathy, Mrs. Burrell, Mom, Kitty, but her favorite by far was Nana.  She loved her family more than anything, especially her grandchildren.  Her favorite activities included playing cards with her sisters and brother, fishing, tending to her home and yard, dancing, going to the casino and “carrying on foolishness” as she liked to call it.  But more than all of those, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.  They each held a very special place in her heart.

The family will receive friends from 6pm-8pm, Monday, March 6 at Storke Funeral Home, King George Chapel.  Funeral service will be held at 11am, Tuesday, March 7, Storke Funeral Home, King George Chapel with burial to follow at Historyland Memorial Park.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
