Eric Joseph Ridgeway, a loving father, son, and brother, passed away on April 13, 2023, at the age of 51. Born on December 8, 1971, to his parents, John and Susan Ridgeway, who preceded him in death, Eric grew up in Gahanna, Ohio, and attended high school. He was a man of many passions, including golf, poker night, bowling, and camping with his family.

Eric joined the Marine Corps in June of 1990, and his dedication and service to his country were unparalleled. He retired from the Marine Corps in September of 2014, having served with honor and distinction, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant. He deployed to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom three times, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his duty and his country.

After his retirement from the Marine Corps, Eric continued his service to the government, working for the National Institute of Health (NIH) until his death.

Eric was not only a dedicated Marine and public servant, but he was also his daughter Savannah’s best friend. He was always there for her, supporting and encouraging her in all of her endeavors. Eric’s legacy will live on through the love and memories he shared with his family and friends.

Eric is survived by his former spouse, Alicia Marie Ridgeway Strage of twenty years and their daughter, Savannah Bree Ridgeway;  brothers Brian with child Isaac, David with children Ashley, Michael, Celina, Michala, Erica, and Haley, two of whom preceded him in death, Trinity, and Jace and Tom with children Andrew and Brandon; his long-time girlfriend Debbie, and great-niece and nephews, Aubrey, Jaxon, and Oliver.

Eric’s life and memory will be honored and celebrated by those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were touched by his kindness, selflessness, and unwavering love.

A funeral Mass will take place in the Old Post Chapel at Joint Base Myer/Henderson Hall, with burial to follow in Arlington National Cemetery at a date and time to be announced.
