Kenneth Stuart Stephens, Sr., 77, of Jersey, VA passed away unexpectedly on May 7, 2023. He was born in Fredericksburg, VA to Gustave and Elizabeth Stephens and was raised with a strong work ethic that he carried with him throughout his life. Kenneth served honorably in the US Army for 2 years, including time in Germany. After his military service, he proudly served his community as a firefighter with the Washington, D.C. Fire Department for almost 25 years. In his spare time, Kenneth worked as a skilled bricklayer and enjoyed being outdoors, cutting grass, gardening, and doing chores around the house. Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes, and he had a natural ability to tackle any task he set his mind to. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Albert V. Stephens, Jerry K. Stephens, Michael T. Stephens; and brother-in-law, Joe Kerr. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce E. Stephens; sons, Michael W. Stephens (Patricia), Kenneth S. Stephens, Jr. (Donna) and Richard P. Stephens (Kathy); sister, Barbara Anne Kerr; four grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Storke Funeral Home, King George. The family will receive friends two hours prior to service time.
