Joan Patricia Lynn, 69, peacefully passed away on June 19, 2023. She was born in Prince George’s County, MD and brought joy to all who knew her. Joan had a zest for life and found simple pleasures in scratch-off lottery tickets, bingo, pokeno and playing Rummy. She was known for her love of travel and treasured the memories made on her adventures with friends and family.  Joan often joked that their girls’ trips were not only fun but also cheaper than therapy. Joan and her family relocated to Colonial Beach in 2000, where she attended Maranatha Baptist Bible Church with her daughter, Loretta. Joan was a cashier at Colonial Beach Food Lion for over 20 years where she loved taking care of her customers. She was also very involved in fund raising, such as Relay for Live, Hunger Boxes, Children’s Miracle Network, and Toys for Tots. Above all else, she loved to sit on her porch and talk and wave to people passing by. Joan cherished spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandson and great-granddaughter. Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Alice Farrell; husband, Ray Oliff; daughter, Loretta Heil; and siblings, Charles Farrell Jr., William Farrell, Hilda Woods, and Shirley Beavers. She is survived by her grandson, John “Jay” Smith (Candice Boyd); great-granddaughter, Kyleigh Boyd; sisters, Jeannette Allison (Jimmy), Joyce Allison, and Virginia Bown (Joe). The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Tuesday, June 27 at Storke Funeral Home, Colonial Beach. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, June 28 at Maranatha Baptist Bible Church. Burial will follow at Historyland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life (www.donate.cancer.org) Storke Funeral Home, Colonial Beach will be handling arrangements.
