Jerry Van Chinault, 77, of Bowling Green, VA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center with his family by his side.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Darl (Steve) and Dessie Mae Stevens.

He is survived by daughters, Amanda (Amy) Jones (Joe), Sherry Taylor (Jason) and Tiffany Pickett (Timothy); eleven grandchildren, McKayla Buckingham, Kollin Barlow, Abigail Monahan, Austin Monahan, Callie Horton, Cameran Pickett, Gavin Pickett, Winston Pickett, Carly Jones, Holly Hollins, and Kelsey Jones; five great grandchildren, Leah Nelson, Harlow Heflebower, Ivy Hollins, Jude Hollins, and Levin Hollins. And Lori Alsop, his devoted caretaker and friend.

Jerry was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam war. He retired from Fort A. P. Hill fire department after thirty years of service. He was awarded multiple Certificates of Achievement during his tenure on base.

After retiring, Jerry enjoyed operating his own Lawn Cutting business, servicing the Bowling Green community. He loved hard work and made many friends with his lawn service over the years.

Jerry enjoyed deer and groundhog hunting with friends and family. He was an avid gun collector of vintage hunting rifles. One of his favorite hobbies was visiting local flea markets looking for the next great treasure of tools.

He will be missed by all but none more than his companion and best friend Jill his Yorkie pup.

Service for Jerry will be 2 PM Sunday September 10, 2023 at the Pavilion at Greenlawn Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior at the Pavilion. A luncheon reception will be held immediately following the service at Bowling Green Baptist Church.
