Sylvia Leigh Butler Gonce, 82, of Chilesburg VA, joined her Lord and Savior Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Bowling Green Health and Rehab center with her family by her side. She was the daughter of Percy Conway Butler Sr. and Leola Cook Butler. She was a lifetime member of Riverside Baptist Church in Beaverdam Va. She loved cooking, coloring, Lifetime and Hallmark, and she especially loved the Lord and her family. She was a retired caregiver and worked in the cafeteria for Caroline County Public schools. She is survived by her three children, David Gonce (Loretta), Brenda Davis (Chance) and Shannon Shiflett (Vincent); nine grandchildren, Gina Beberdick, Randal Gonce, Corinna Davis, Amber Davis, Alanna Shiflett and Darren Shiflett, Darlene Harmon, Crystal Butler, and Ashley Vine; twenty-two great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Percy, Sr. & Leola Butler; husband, Burt Gonce Jr; a brother, Percy Conway Butler, Jr.; a sister, Kathryn Seay; and a grandson, Allen Gonce.  A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Riverside Baptist Church. 20057 Teman Road, Beaverdam, VA 23015. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
