James Taylor Robertson III, 73, of Fredericksburg VA passed away peacefully on December 26, 2023 after a decline following a debilitating cerebral stroke suffered nearly five years prior.

Taylor was born in Richmond VA on September 14, 1950 to Paula Gabler Robertson and James Taylor Robertson, Jr. He grew up in Montross VA, graduated from Christchurch School in Middlesex County, and attended Roanoke College. Known for his lightning-fast speed as a sprinter in his youth, he ran on his high school track team. In adulthood, he spent his career working as a skilled electrician in the Northern Neck of Virginia. He also enjoyed singing church hymns and playing hymns on the piano. For many years, he devoted himself daily to studying the scriptures.

Taylor is survived by his loving wife, Ercel Validum Robertson; his daughter Jessica Robertson Vaughn (Mark), of Warsaw VA; and step-children Tammy Validum of Milford VA, Toshika Wallace of Dallas TX, Nikita Validum of Albuquerque NM, Benito Validum of Kissimmee FL, and Viktorr Validum of Fredericksburg VA. In addition, he is survived by his sister Sarah “Sally” deGraffenried Robertson Jacobs (Alan) of Colorado and Oregon and by his brother Archer Sage Robertson (Helen) of Howardsville VA.

Also surviving his death are two grandchildren, Austin Vaughn and Macie Vaughn; 18 step-grandchildren, Norissa Validum, Marcus Smith, Tashima Validum, Queen Validum, Tarrell Validum, Delano Validum, Kathryn Coon, Kelly Thorne, Adonis Validum, Halle Validum, Nicholas Wallace, Lauren Wallace, Cavasio Validum, Taylor Thornton, Nikilyn Validum, Chandler Validum, Madison Validum and Elohim Validum; two nieces, Catherine Taylor Pretlow and Anne Cullen Robertson Ervin; many step-great-grandchildren and numerous cousins.

Taylor was predeceased by his parents and by his brother Samuel Creed Robertson.

The family would like to express heartfelt appreciation to Laurie Breon and Jalisa Bailey for their tender, kind, and steadfast care for Taylor during the period following his stroke.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Storke Funeral Home in Bowling Green, VA. Visitation begins at 1:00 p.m. with the service following at 2:00 p.m.

Visitation & Funeral Service Information

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024 in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
