John H. Wells, devoted husband, loving father, brother, and cherished grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024. He was born on January 4, 1944, to John W. Wells and Nanny Bell Dickerson in Isle of Wight County. John was the beloved husband of Kathy Diane Tolley Wells and the proud father of Chris Wells, Nancy Wells Keefe, Justin Wells and John W Wells; and brother to Davis Wells and Al Leonard. A skilled commercial fisherman and welder, John dedicated his life to his craft and retiring from Martin Marietta Materials with a wealth of knowledge and expertise. His hard work and dedication were evident in everything he did, leaving an indelible mark on his profession and those he worked alongside. John’s true joy in life came from his family. He adored his eight grandchildren, Jamie Keefe, Taylor Keefe, Dana Wells, Jonathan Wells, Aiden Wells, Wesley Wells, Brantlee Wells, and Olivia Wells, and reveled in the role of grandfather. His two great-grandchildren brought him immeasurable happiness and filled his heart with love. John was also admired for his generous spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. And will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family and his love of the sea. John’s memory will be forever cherished by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends whose lives he touched in profound ways. A celebration of John’s life will be held on Friday, April 19th at 2:00pm in the Bowling Green chapel of Storke Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service.
