Show Obituaries Show Guestbook Show Photos QR Code PrintMary Katherine Latka, was born March 24, 1925 in Richmond, Virginia, daughter of Maria Theresa Zak and Joseph John Latka She grew up in Woodford (Villsboro), in Caroline County and she attended Mica High School for seven years, attended Washington Irving High School in New York City for one year, and graduated from Caroline High School, Bowling Green, Va in 1943. She worked for the Corps of Engineers at Fort Belvoir for two years. Also, worked as Secretary to the Labor Relations Manager of Safeway Stores for 29 years. Her last employment was for the National League of American Pen Women where she worked for approximately 15 years, retiring in 2004. She was a member of the former Oblate Club in Washington, D. C. She is a member of St. Matthew’s Cathedral Club and the Reparation Society at the Cathedral for many years. She is a Board Member of TENAC (Tenants’ Advocacy Coalition), Dupont Circle Citizens Association, and a long-time member of the Slovak-American Society of Washington, D.C. in 1948 and lived at the White Hall Boarding House for Girls in DC for 11 years and later moved to an apartment building nearby, where she has resided since 1960. A Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2024 at St. Mary of the Annunciation 10306 Ladysmith Road, Ruther Glen, VA. 22546. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Woodford, VA. 22580. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary of the Annunciation Building Fund.

A Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2024 at St. Mary of the Annunciation 10306 Ladysmith Road, Ruther Glen, VA. 22546. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Woodford, VA. 22580. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary of the Annunciation Building Fund.
