Franklin Eugene Lee, Jr., 82, of King George, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at Mary Washington Hospital. Born in Rockingham, Virginia, on August 13, 1936, he is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judith Geety Lee, a son, Frank Eugene Lee, III, Mary Arcand (Kenneth), five grandchildren, Nichole Arcand, Amanda Fulmore (Justin), Kathleen Bell (Anthony), Jordan Lee, and Savannah Lee, and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 10 brothers and sisters, Eleanor Carroll, Kenneth Lee (Elizabeth), David Lee (Bonnie), James Arthur Lee, Galen Lee (Jude), Linda Lee, Elizabeth Merryman, Helen Darlene Lee (Alex “Bo” Ulasiewicz), Frances Zalamia (Oscar), and Rosemary Dianne Lee (Tom Mitchell), and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank E. Lee, Sr., his mother, Helen Dutrow Lee, and an infant sister, Carol Lee.
Frank served in the United States Army from 1960-1964 as an infantryman in the 3rd Armored Division, stationed in Germany during the Cuban Missle Crisis, and a member of the Active Reserves from 1964-1968. He was a Master Carpenter and a hard worker. His hobbies included gardening and studying Biblical history and timelines. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where he served as a deacon in his younger years.
A visitation and viewing will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Shiloh Baptist Church, King George, Virginia, followed by a funeral service to begin at 3:30 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend a reception at the church’s Family Life Center (same location) at 4:30 pm.
