Deane Whitman (age 72) passed peacefully at home on May 20^th, 2024, after an extended illness.  Deane is survived by his devoted loving wife Austina, his mother Gladys Whitman, his son Brian Pickral (wife Cristen), granddaughter Heather Pickral, brother Allan Whitman (wife Linda), sister Cindy Lively (husband Chris), sister Brenda Whitman and sister-in-law Valerie Ivanyshyn.  Deane enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephew:  Eva Frentz (husband Josh), Raven Ferguson (husband Joe), Alexandra Huffman (husband Ryan), Aspen Jones (husband Miles), Luke Lively and Becky Lively; in addition to many grand nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Barry Whitman and his mother-in-law Marian Carpenter.

Deane was born April 14, 1952, in Leominster Massachusetts.  Throughout his life, he enjoyed being outside and loved to talk with his many friends and family.  From an early age Deane tinkered and was interested in finding out how things worked.  He enjoyed helping others, especially with his handyman skills that allowed him to “fix almost anything”.  Deane will be missed throughout the community by the many friends that he made through his years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the George Washington Birthplace Picnic Pavilion, 1732 Popes Creek Road, Colonial Beach, VA 22443 between 1 pm and 4 pm on Saturday June 8^th.  Stop by and visit to share your special memories of Deane.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the King George Animal Rescue League, PO Box 1003, Dahlgren, VA 22448.
