Christine Diana Merritt, age 61, mother of Joseph Rubenstein and Timothy Lynard passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024 at Spotsylvania Regional Hospital after a battle with pneumonia. She had fought bravely for 14 months from complications from a blocked bowel, which resulted in her short gut syndrome diagnosis.

Christine grew up in Arlington, Virginia and had many fond memories of family and friendships. Christine was preceded in death by her mother, father and three brothers.

Christine was devoted to her love of working with children and loved her time spent at various schools in Caroline County. During her spare time, she enjoyed traveling especially her yearly trips to Lancaster and Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. She was an avid ghost hunter and enjoyed the many trips for ghostly adventures.

Known for her friendly and outgoing personality, she will be dearly missed by family and friends.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Joseph and Timothy and her siblings, Stephen Logan, Mary Carrig and Pat Kemp. She also leaves behind her significant other Tim Clayton and her beloved pets Mia and Luna.

Christine’s family ask that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life and not for the sadness of her passing.
