She had recently celebrated her 100th birthday with her extended family. Maryjane was born on April 28, 1924 in Salem, Massachusetts to Claire (Brogan) Cunningham and James R. Cunningham. She married John Francis Flynn in 1945 and enjoyed 67 years of marriage. She had four children between 1947 and 1955 and lived in Massachusetts, Virginia and Georgia.
Maryjane was a devoted wife and mother and excelled at everything she did. At the age of 36, she pursued undergraduate and graduate degrees in Sociology and Education and became a teacher. Beautiful and elegant, Maryjane loved to entertain and host family celebrations for birthdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was an avid reader, enjoyed dancing classes, and traveling the world with John. She was faithful to the Catholic Church throughout her life and was a strong believer in prayer.
Maryjane is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her two sisters, Claire (Cunningham) Tobin, of Glastonbury, Connecticut, and Rose Rowland of Boston, Massachusetts. Surviving are her children Joan Fee and husband Russell Fee, Jeffrey Flynn and wife Christine Flynn, Joyce Hall and husband David Hall, Susan Offerdal and husband Erik Offerdal, sister-in-law Julia Griffin of West Dennis, Massachusetts; seven grandchildren; Heather Fee-Alverez, John Fee, Nathan Goode, Aubrey Tolerton, Patrick Fee, Yancey Flynn, and Kari Offerdal and their spouses/partners; five great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Maryjane’s life will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, on July 27, 2024 at 11:30 in Peachtree City, Georgia, followed by burial at Westminster Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on July 26th from 4:00 to 6:00 at Mowell Funeral Home in Peachtree City, Georgia.
