Lorena liked to work and was a strong woman. She grew up during the depression to farmers Robert and Virginia Morgan who had 9 children, 7 daughters and 2 sons. This was the time when children were expected to work on the farm and go to school. Life was good and also challenging. The Morgan farm had a simple house with no electricity or running water. Everyone pitched in. This work ethic stayed with Lorena.
Lorena enjoyed cooking, especially, making cakes and pies as well as canned goods. Everyone loved her pound cake and jellies. She also loved to eat.
She loved going to yard sales and then having them. She was famous for her yard sales. It was more about being social than the money – but she did quite well.
She worked at the pickle factory for years, at KGHS in the cafeteria, at Dahlgren in the officer’s club cooking, as well as many other jobs.
Lorena had 4 children, Mary and Jane who passed away in 2019 and 2020 and Charles and Karl. She has two grandchildren Beth and Alice.
Special thank you to Jackie Motley who was just like a daughter and good friend who was always there and especially helpful in the final years. Also, a huge thank you to Suncrest Hospice who provided tremendous support and care over the past 5 months.
