JoAnn had an extraordinary green thumb and could make anything grow. She loved gardening and nurturing her potted plants, often rescuing ones in need of revival. A creative spirit, JoAnn was a talented artist and crafter. She enjoyed painting gourds, decorating cakes, and crocheting masterpieces, including hats for her daughters’ chickens.
JoAnn had a gift for conversation and made friends wherever she went. Her warmth and openness left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Laverne Perhacs; siblings, Peggy Etcheverry, Ginny McNutt, and Joe Perhacs; and her beloved companion, Broc.
JoAnn is survived by her devoted husband, James Norfleet; children, Pam Dean (Chris Linsbeck), Rob Dean (Dee Dee), Kathy Dean (Shaun McLellan), and Glenn Dean; grandchildren, Samantha, Kelsey, Dillon, Zack, Nick, Arielle “Mina”, Courtney, and Jasmine; brother, Greg Perhacs (Lynn); four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate JoAnn’s life will be held at 2pm on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 13457 Kings Highway, King George, VA, followed by a reception at the church. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to your local hospice organization in JoAnn’s honor.
Visitation & Funeral Service Information
A memorial service to celebrate JoAnn’s life will be held at 2pm on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 13457 Kings Highway, King George, VA, followed by a reception at the church. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the memorial service.
