Lorene Blanton Cornell of Tappahannock, VA passed away in the early morning hours of September 19, 2024 just a few days shy of her 90th birthday. Known as “Nannie” and “Big Nannie”, she made a lasting impression on all that knew and loved her. She may have been little but her personality was mighty! She loved spending time with her family, shopping around town, and she never missed an episode of The Young and the Restless. One of her favorite pastimes was baking and Nannie’s famous cookies were highly sought after. She spent many hours in the kitchen making them. There was hardly ever an event that didn’t include her chocolate chip or oatmeal cookies. She was preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Cornell; her parents, John and Mary Blanton; her siblings, Julian and Lewis Blanton, Lillian Jones and Margaret Lewis. What a heavenly reunion they must have all shared. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Votano (Johnny V) and her son, John Cornell; sister in law, Donna Cornell; her grandchildren, Larry (Sam), Andrea, Hailey, Matthew (Candace), and Ashleigh; 10 great grandchildren, Austin, Trevor, Blake, Brent, Ben, Anna, Taylor, Jayna, Stella and Brayden; and her loving nieces, nephews, and their families. The family will hold a private service graveside but appreciate your thoughts and prayers.
