Gary W. Moore, 80 of Chilesburg received his angel wings and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at his home, after a brief illness. Born in North Carolina, Gary was a 1963 graduate of George Wythe High School in Richmond. In his early years, he started working part time for Siegel’s Supermarket while working shift work at DuPont for 10 years. It was that work ethic and background in the grocery store business that led he and Nancy to Chilesburg in 1970 to open Moore’s Supermarket. He and his family ran that store for 34 years. In 1997, Gary and Kenny founded Moores Supermarket, Inc. where he has served as President since then. Moore’s Supermarket. Inc. owned the Caroline Square Shopping Center in Bowling Green from 1997 to 2022.  In 2012 they purchased the Scrub N Bubbles Car Wash in Ladysmith along with many rental and prospect properties. He was appointed and served for a number of years as a founding member of the Bowling Green Economic Development Authority. He was a member of County Line Baptist Church and was active with the Caroline Chamber of Commerce. After selling the supermarket, he delivered mail for the Beaverdam Post Office for 2 years and then worked for Moore’s Lawn Care side by side with Kenny for 12 years. Gary is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy Moore; his children, Kenny Moore (Julie); Terry Waterman, Jr. (Charlene Lewis) and Cindy Crisp (Roger),his sister, Vickie Everheart (Paul); his longtime friend (whom he considered a brother), Jimmy Farlow; his six grandchildren, Hunter Moore and Sam Moore, Travis Waterman, Dustin Crisp, Austin Crisp, Justin Crisp,; eight great grandchildren; his “honorary” grandchildren, Douglas and Sarah Beverly and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Etta Moore and his siblings, Gerald Moore and Carolyn Barnes. The family will receive friends at the Bowling Green chapel of Storke Funeral Home on Friday, October 4th from 6:00 – 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 5th at 11:00am in County Line Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation & Funeral Service Information

The family will receive friends at the Bowling Green chapel of Storke Funeral Home on Friday, October 4th from 6:00 – 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 5th at 11:00am in County Line Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
