Grace “Madeline” Rose, 78, of Colonial Beach, VA passed away on October 6, 2024.

A very devout woman of faith, Madeline served as the church secretary at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church for 10 years. She cherished her family deeply, especially her grandchildren, and was known for her loving, thoughtful, and caring nature, embodying Southern grace and sophistication. Madeline also enjoyed time in the Outer Banks with her family. She loved her many animals she had throughout her life including Mitzi, Beetlejuice, Victoria and Tugger.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry T. Rose; parents, John & Vera Loeffler; brother, Clinton Loeffler; sister-in-law, Susan Loeffler.

Madeline’s memory will be cherished by her children, Henry Dean Rose (Kim), Wayne Thornton Rose (Julie), DeeDee Reed (Wally); sister, Edna Jenkins (Randy); brother, John Loeffler; sister-in-law, Linda Loeffler; grandchildren, Beverly R. Taylor (William), Stephanie M. Mitchell (Stephen), Wallace H. Reed III (Katelyn), Brenden M. Reed, Colton T. Rose, Kali A. Rose; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Abigail, Jason, Vance, Savannah; and beloved neighbor and friend, Kaye Bennett.

The family will receive friends from 5pm to  7pm on Wednesday, October 16 at Storke Funeral Home, Colonial Beach. A funeral mass will be held at 11am  on Thursday, October 17 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Historyland Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org/donate), Colonial Beach Fire Department (312 Colonial Avenue, Colonial Beach, VA 22443), or King George Fire and Rescue (8122 Kings Highway, King George, VA 22485).

Visitation & Funeral Service Information

The family will receive friends from 5pm to  7pm on Wednesday, October 16 at Storke Funeral Home, Colonial Beach.
