Christine Lane Simmons, 84, of Ruther Glen died Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Memorial Regional Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Ernest Lane and Virginia Emerson Lane. Christine was a member of Chapel Church of Christ in Montpelier. She loved country music, the outdoors, flowers and all birds, especially hummingbirds. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Howard Simmons, Jr., a son, William Eugene “Boo” Simmons; sister-in-law, Mabel Lane; daughter-in-law, Beth Simmons; two brothers, Ed Overton and Clyde Lane. Her survivors include two children, Debbie Carol Lipscomb (“Bubba”) and Terry Wendell Simmons; a daughter-in-law, Wendy Simmons; a brother, Jack Lane; three sisters, Edith Knowles, Mary Thompson (John), and Helen McDonald (Gene); sister-in-law, Joyce Overton; seven grandchildren, Chrissy Keyser (Leonard), Christopher Simmons, David “ B.J.” Lipscomb (Ashley), Merry “Sissy” Frye (Scott), Ann Simmons, Amanda Stembridge (Daniel) and Emily Brickey (Ronnie)  and great grandchildren, which includes, a great grandson, who was a very close sidekick, Jase Daniel Lipscomb.  A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Storke Funeral Home, 111 South Main Street, Bowling Green, VA 22427.
