She was born February 18, 1931 to the late William and Elmyra Watts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bernard R “Bernie” Pitts, Sr; two sons in law Arthur Witmeyer and David Ganoe Jr and nine siblings.
Marjorie was known for her unwavering faith in the Lord and her service to Him. She was a devoted member of Salem Baptist Church where she spent more than 50 years teaching Sunday School and actively served in the WMU. She was an affectionate homemaker who devoted her life to caring for her close-knit family. Her hobbies included cooking, gardening and caring for children.
She is survived by her four children Judy Witmeyer, Bernard R “Randy” Pitts Jr (Almeda), L. Nelson Pitts (Carol), Barbara Ganoe and a dear sister, Betty Williams. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren Kim Ayers (Bobby), Sarah Colvin (Ryan), Anne Grove (Jake), Jennifer Anns (Matt), John Pitts, Michael Witmeyer (Emma), Christopher Pitts (Laurie), Matthew Ganoe (Mallory), Melissa Brown (Tucker) and 16 Great Grandchildren Tyler, Zac, Haylee, Adam, Rett, Charlotte, Riley, Jack, Caroline, Levi, Robbie, Lily, Caleb, Ridge, Laurel and Abbie.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr Daniel Woodford and her caregiver Tina Martin.
The family will receive friends at the Bowling Green chapel of Storke Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 22nd from 6:00 – 8:00pm. A funeral will be held at Salem Baptist Church on Wednesday, October 23rd at 2:00pm, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem Baptist Church.
