Charles “Charlie” Sale, 84, of Ladysmith died peacefully at his home on Monday, October 21, 2024 with his family by his side.  Born in Mica (now Fort  A.P. Hill) on April 27, 1940, he was the son of the late Forrest and Lula E. Sale and was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley  A  Sale. A proud graduate of C.T. Smith High School, Charlie worked for Tidewater Telephone Company, Richmond Auto Parts, Fredericksburg Auto Parts, and Ajoe’s Auto Parts. In 1986, he opened Ladysmith Auto Parts where he could always be found chatting with friends and helping neighbors. He enjoyed NASCAR races, baseball games, and served his community as Chief of Ladysmith Volunteer Fire Department. Charlie is survived by his wife of 64 years, Yvonne Sale; his sister, Betty Aubrey; his daughter, Janice Sadler (David) and his son, Jeff Sale (Tracy); his grandchildren Todd Sadler (Beth), Benjamin Sadler (Stephanie), Chelsea Reece (Reece), Taylor Janos (Jesse), and Danica Sale; his great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Fynnlie Sadler, Jacob and Ruby Kate Sadler, Hannah, Harley, Sommer, Adam, Avery, Jameson, and Bode Reece, and Jeremy and Coda Janos; his sister-in-law, Elaine Satterfield, and his caregiver, Linda. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday, October 25 at the Storke Funeral Home, 111 South Main Street, Bowling Green.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 26 at Storke Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lakewood Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Ladysmith Volunteer Fire Department or Ladysmith Volunteer Rescue Squad.  

Visitation & Funeral Service Information

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday, October 25 at the Storke Funeral Home, 111 South Main Street, Bowling Green.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 26 at Storke Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lakewood Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Ladysmith Volunteer Fire Department or Ladysmith Volunteer Rescue Squad.
