It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James Edward Rotsaert, 92, of King George, VA, who passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of December 6, 2024.

Jim led a full and vibrant life, impacting many through his roles as a teacher, coach, and member of various community leagues for softball and bowling. His involvement in the church, his work as a house painter and landscaper, and his love for building projects and hobbies were just a few of the many ways he gave back. Above all, Jim was a proud father and devoted family man, always cheering on his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with an unwavering spirit of love and pride.

One of his proudest moments came in 2007 when he was inducted into the Superior/Douglas County Athletic Hall of Fame, recognizing his impressive athletic accomplishments. Jim’s kind and gentle nature touched everyone who knew him, and he will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his sister, Marge Crabtree of Superior, WI; his children: Ann (Greg) Albertson of King George, VA; Mike Rotsaert of Evansdale, IA; Kathy Moore of Port Royal, VA; and Patrick (Lisa) Rotsaert of Chardon, OH; along with 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many other family and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lillian Rotsaert; two sisters, Pat Berg and MaryJo Tyler; his former wife, Patricia Rotsaert; and his grandson, Brian Albertson.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, 17 December 2024 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in King George, VA, at 11:00AM with a Rosary being said beforehand at 10:30AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in the form of planting a tree in Jim’s honor, reflecting his love of nature, or to St. Anthony of Padua Mission, 9140 St. Anthony’s Road, King George, VA  22485.
