Karen Ann Sansbury, 68, of King George, VA passed away on December 14, 2024.

Originally from Prince George’s County, MD, Karen made King George her home in 2007. She gained a wonderful community of friends and enjoyed spending time outside doing various jobs.

Karen had a vibrant personality and found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She adored all things purple, treasured time with her family, and thoroughly enjoyed watching the ID channel.

Her greatest joy came from her grandsons, whom she supported wholeheartedly in their school activities and sports. Whether cheering from the stands at baseball and football games or offering a listening ear, Karen’s love was unconditional. She warmly embraced her grandson’ friends as her own, earning the affectionate title “MawMaw” to many.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Lindy & Mary Sansbury; brothers, William “Mike” Sansbury and Robert “Bruce” Sansbury; and sister, Mary “Kathleen” Sansbury.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Kelly J. James; brothers, Charles “Buster”Sansbury (Vickie), James “Jimmy” Sansbury, and Wayne Sansbury; grandchildren, Brandon L. James and Kyle R. James; “adopted children”, Jesse O’Neill (Brianna), Micheal O’Neill, and “adopted grandchildren”, Erica Streams and Gabe Hebbard; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Monday, December 23, 2024 at Storke Funeral Home, King George.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the SPCA (https://fredspca.org/donate/), honoring Karen’s love for animals.
