Charles was born in Ruther Glen on October 29, 1955. He was a lifelong resident of Caroline County.
Charles is survived by his children: Charles R. Cannon, Jr. (“Chuckie”), Lori Cannon Taylor (“Sissy”) and her husband Doug (“Peanut”) who was like a son to Charles, and Christopher Cannon (“Chris”) and the mother of his children and the love of his life, Laura Cannon; his two grandsons Sean Taylor (and his love Lillie), and Greyson Cannon; his nephew, William (“Billy Boy”) Carneal who was raised like a brother (and his wife, Edith), his brother Julian Cannon; nieces B.J. Cannon, Nora Mae Cannon, Linda Wingfield Hall, and nephews J.C. Cannon and David Cannon, and a host of devoted friends and other cherished family members.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, Russell Cannon, mother Alma, and siblings Max (“Pitts”) Cannon, Dorothy Cannon Whitlock, Barbara Jean Sanford, Virginia Lee Cannon, and his two beloved poodles Bobo and Princess.
Charles attended school in Caroline County. He later adeptly drove a tractor trailer, and was employed by C.W. Jackson, L.L. Carter, and Peck Recycling. Truck driving was his passion. His greatest joy, however, was his family.
Charles’ faith and profound relationship with the Lord guided him throughout his life. He prayed daily for his family. He loved the Lord and was comforted in knowing he would be with Him when he passed.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 2nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Storke Funeral Home Bowling Green Chapel. A funeral service will be held there on Friday January 3rd at 2:00 p.m. The burial will follow at Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery in Ruther Glen.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or a local animal shelter. Charles had great love for kids and dogs, and would have readily helped them all.
Charles will be remembered by his huge heart, sense of humor, laughter, generosity, and deep abiding love for his family.
