William “Billy” Edenton, 86, passed away on December 26, 2024. A lifelong resident of Partlow, VA, Billy was born and raised in the community he loved. After graduating high school in 1956, he began a hardworking and fulfilling career.

Known on the road by his CB handle, “Stove Pipe”, Billy built a reputation as a skilled and dedicated truck driver. He drove for Dickinson Brothers Lumber Company, AW Ray, and other local businesses before spending many years with Southland and, later on, McLane.

Billy’s love for life was reflected in his many passions. A fan of old country music, he was a talented dancer and was famous for his signature slow dance moves. He was always in demand as a dance partner.

He looked forward to hay season and enjoyed working cows on the farm with his son. At home, he was meticulous about his yard, spending hours fertilizing and seeding only to humorously grumble when it came time to cut the grass.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Willie & Christine Edenton; sisters, Frances Payne and Pauline Swift; and special friend, Mattie Acors.

He is survived by his children, Bobby Edenton and Darlene Edenton; sisters, Maxine Estep and Margaret Ann Musselman; granddaughters, Chelsea and Annette; great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Tahlor; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service to honor Billy’s life will be held at 11am on Friday, January 10, 2024 at Wallers Baptist Church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wallers Church Cemetery Fund, 4001 Partlow Road, Partlow, VA 22534.

Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green is handling arrangements.
