William Edward Tyndall, 98, of King George VA, passed away comfortably on December 19, 2024 at home surrounded by his loved ones.

William was born on September 28, 1926 to William Harry and Rosa Mae Tyndall in Temperanceville, VA.  William graduated from Atlantic High School in Oak Hall, VA in 1944.  Near his 18th birthday, he was called to Active Service with the United States Army.  In 1944, he married Rebecca Adkins and reported to Ft. Knox.  In Armored School training he completed various arms, Deuce and a half, and radio school and was assigned to the 710th Tank Battalion in Leyte Island Philippines. He was honorably discharged in December 1946.

In January of 1947, he began civilian work for the Naval Aviation Ordnance Test Station in Chincoteague, VA.  In March 1959, he moved to Dahlgren, VA following a work opportunity at the Naval Proving Ground.  During these years, he was blessed with his two children Lana Jane and William Scott.

In 1986, he married Alice (Gulick) Tyndall.  William enjoyed many years of gardening, camping, traveling, and family visits.  Over the years, they upgraded travel trailers and mastered camping. Bill spoke of adventures and travels to his Army reunions.  He was proud of his Masonic accomplishments, offices, and the brothers at each Masonic body.

William Tyndall is survived by his wife Alice, two children Lana Wilkerson and William Scott Tyndall and his stepson and spouse David and Audra Gulick, his grandchildren Joseph Brian Wilkerson, Stephen Michael Wilkerson (+), Shannon Tyndall Rozario and Bridget Ann Gulick as well as five great grandchildren Joe, William, Gabrielle, Barry and Nezuko.  He is also survived by his sister AnnaRuth Taylor, his nephew and wife William Harry and Barbara Godwin and his niece and husband Angela and J.R. Bowden.

William E. Tyndall received his Master Mason degree in October 1967 at Colonial Beach Lodge, with William Harry Tyndall’s oversight.  In 1972, he served as Worshipful Master at Colonial Beach Lodge, and in 1994 as Worshipful Master in Hudson-Morris Lodge.  He was invited to serve as District Deputy Grand Master of the 8th Masonic District in 1998.  His involvement with the Royal Arch Chapter would afford him in 2000 to serve as District Deputy Grand High Priest.  William was active with Knights Templar, and was accepted into KYCH.

Services will be held at Storke Funeral Home King George, VA on January 11, 2025 at 1:30 pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Shriners, an organization Bill felt strongly about.
