Doris Lucille Williams, 90, of Fredericksburg, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025.  Born in Virginia and daughter to the late John Mack Johnson and Lena Mae West Johnson, Doris was raised in Colonial Beach. She was the director of the Westmoreland County Legionnaires Majorettes, a school bus driver, and loving daughter, mother, wife, aunt, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her greatest accomplishment was her love for family and the unwavering strength for always checking on them and caring for them.

At Oak Grove Baptist Church she grew her faith which held strong throughout her life. She was an avid bowler and member of the Eagles where she loved to go and dance. She loved country music and supporting her son and grandson in The Southern Bred Band. She enjoyed fishing and spending her time relaxing with friends and family at the beach. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren that filled her days with ball games, numerous performances, and more love than one could imagine.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband(s) Franklin Jobe Kemp, Sr & Sherry Bryant Williams, Sr.; son Franklin J Kemp Jr; and her siblings Leven Johnson, Shirley Rollins, Emma Rittenour, Geraldine Jenkins, Helen Oliff.

Survivors include her children Betty Ann Buttram (Michael Buttram), Douglas R Kemp (Tina Kemp), Sean K Kemp (Kimberly Kemp); siblings John Johnson, Jr., Sheila Johnson; grandchildren Franklin J Kemp III, Joshua G Kemp, Shannon K Kemp, Ashley E Townsend, Brittany R Hays, Daniel J Kemp, Elizabeth R Vanlandingham, Thomas M Suthard III, Kyle F Kemp, Kaitlin R Kemp; great grandchildren Keirsten, Alex, Matthew, Nic, Arianna, Kaylee, Naiomi, Skyler, Westley, Dallas, Nora, Liam, Aimen, Thomas, Millie, Allie, Lia, Colton, Emory, Madelynn, Jacob, Ella, Emelia, Christina, Maeve, Beau; and great-great grandchild Henry “Four”.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm, Wednesday, January 8th at Storke Funeral Home, King George Chapel.  A funeral will take place at 2pm at Storke Funeral Home in King George, followed by burial at St Peters Cemetery in Oak Grove.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Colonial Beach Rescue Squad or Spotsylvania County Fire and Rescue.

Visitation & Funeral Service Information

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm, Wednesday, January 8th at Storke Funeral Home, King George Chapel.  

A funeral will take place at 2pm, Thursday, January 9 at Storke Funeral Home in King George, followed by burial at St Peters Cemetery in Oak Grove.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Colonial Beach Rescue Squad or Spotsylvania County Fire and Rescue.
