With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Olethia Raye Dawson, who left this world peacefully on January 3, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on February 16, 1941, in Hyacinth, Virginia, Olethia was the beloved daughter of Elwood R. Dawson and Frances Fones Dawson. Her life was a testament to kindness, hard work, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.

Olethia built a remarkable career, retiring after 33 dedicated years of service with Rappahannock Electric Cooperative. Throughout her professional journey, she held various roles with Dentist James Knight, G&G Farm Service, Tidewater Telephone Company, Union Bank and Trust, and Storke Funeral Home in Bowling Green. In every position, she brought warmth, integrity, and an unmatched work ethic, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.

Above all, Olethia was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her loving sons, Timothy Wade Douglas of Spotsylvania and Keith Montaque Douglas of Chicago. Her legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren, Ashley Raye Buchanan and husband Brian, Damien Douglas, and Hanna Douglas, as well as her precious great-grandchildren, Emma Raye Buchanan and Landon Buchanan.

Olethia was a devoted sister to her brother, Lewis Dawson, and sister-in-law Bobbie Dawson. She shared a special bond with her niece Holly Jackson and husband Mike, and her nephew Brian Dawson. She adored her great-niece Arianna Jackson and her great-nephews Shane Dawson and Connor Jackson, always delighting in their accomplishments and milestones.

Olethia will be remembered for her selflessness, her unshakable faith, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and grace. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

In keeping with Olethia’s wishes, she will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at Bowling Green United Methodist Church in the coming weeks. The family will share details as they are finalized.

Rest in peace, Mom. Your memory will forever be a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing you.
