I had the pleasure and honor to work with Art when I was Godwin MS. He had my back many times over the years. We all felt safer with him there. He had great relationships with students, especially the ones he coached. Art enjoyed our regular HH gatherings after work, sharing the stories of his day, which were always entertaining. My husband and I were able to have Art and Denise over for several Superbowl parties and he always brought some of his venison to share. The year we had a big snowstorm, he made the drive to Northern VA, taking hours to get here! Art was one of a kind, a great man, a great friend. He will be missed. Our heartfelt condolences to Denise, Deanna, his grandchildren, and all his family.

Art, we will miss you very much! We will miss your sense of humor, your love of family and friends, your service to your country and many other things. We spent many days together and the memories will last forever – especially the neighborhood poker games on snowy days! God bless you and your family. Vanessa, Wadell and the kids.

My thoughts are with Art’s family and friends. I loved working with Art at Godwin MS. He had a lot of great stories to tell, a great sense of humor, and a fatherly presence that made us feel safe and protected with him. He is one of a kind and was loved by all!

Thank you, Art, for all your years of classroom support and encouragement. You looked out for our kids, our teams, our teachers, and our community. We knew we could count on you to keep us safe and help our students make better choices. I will always remember our happy hours, football & softball games…. So many wonderful memories… so many corny jokes. My best to Denise and family as we say goodbye to our beloved friend and colleague.
