Alan was born in Arlington, Virginia to Thomas Berryman, Jr. and Thelma Fritchman Berryman. He is survived by his daughter, Dionna Conner, granddaughters Rayven Nicole Conner and Savannah Jule Thens (Kadin), his long time friend and partner, Karen Johnson and Thomas Berryman (Joan Ellersick), his brother. He also leaves nieces and nephews Martin Berryman (Suzanne), Kathryn Figueroa (Rony), David Berryman (Andrée Grenier) and Christine Berryman.
A graduate in 1970 from Wakefield High School in Arlington, Alan worked as a union carpenter in the Washington, DC area repairing government buildings and restoring old homes. He was known to his family and friends as a person who “knew how to do things,” loved working with his hands to make and repair furniture, enjoyed collecting and selling antiques, was an avid motorcyclist and relished eating a big plate of crab legs.
Friends and family may call on Friday, January 24 between 5 and 8 pm at Storke Funeral Home, 131 3rd Street, Colonial Beach, VA 22443. Graveside services will be at Columbia Gardens Cemetery, 3411 Arlington Blvd, Arlington, VA 22201 at 2 pm on Saturday, January 25. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or to a favorite charitable cause.

Friends and family may call on Friday, January 24 between 5 and 8 pm at Storke Funeral Home, 131 3rd Street, Colonial Beach, VA 22443.
