LaTasha “Tasha” Lynn Lucas, born on August 19, 1978 to Debbie Lucas and Gerald Newman. Tasha peacefully gained her heavenly wings on February 3, 2025, at Mary Washington Hospital after a courageous battle with diabetes. She was a loving mother to Saki and Ksauyn and forever Debbie’s only baby and favorite daughter. Tasha had a remarkable ability to light up any room she entered. With her infectious smile and joyful spirit, she never missed an opportunity to laugh and make others feel loved. Always the life of the party and never meeting a stranger, Tasha’s presence will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.

Tasha was a vibrant spirit who attended both Colonial Beach and King George school systems before earning her GED to pursue a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). LaTasha was baptized and became a member of the Good Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Williams, Jr. Her love for life was contagious, always looking for reasons to celebrate. No dance was too difficult for her to master, and there wasn’t a song she couldn’t sing—she was the true life of any party.

Tasha embraced everything that made life enjoyable.

Tasha and fun were inseparable. Every summer, whether she was traveling with her Fab 4 crew—Keiya, Moe, and Faye—or spending time at the racetrack, you could always count on finding her dancing the night away. She made sure to carve out time for her friends and party crew; Darlene, Deitra, Val, Celestine, Sandra, Linda, Mia, and her special friend, Tom. Tasha was always up on the latest clothing trend and never missed an opportunity to have a fashion debate with her God Brother JR. When Tasha wasn’t partying you could find her at the bingo hall. Tasha wasn’t short on friends, and it showed in every aspect of her life. Tasha truly lived life to the fullest, always the party girl at heart. She lived on her own terms until the very end. Even when her dancing slowed down, she’d find herself bobbing her head in the car with Debbie, Kitty, and Babysis on those many urgent trips to Richmond. The music in her heart always gave her a reason to dance to her own beat.

LaTasha is survived by her loving sons, Saki Lucas and Ksauyn Brown. She is also remembered fondly by her mother, Debbie Lucas, who was not only her caregiver but also her devoted partner and best friend. LaTasha leaves behind four siblings, one god brother, twelve aunts, seven uncles, two great aunts, and two great uncles. Additionally, she is cherished by her sweetie pie, Poodie, along with a host of other family members and friends who will hold her memory close.

Tasha’s love and caring heart will never be forgotten.
