Paul R. McDonald, 91 of Bowling Green passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025 in Mary Washington Hospital. Born in West Virginia, Paul served in the United States Army, retiring after 20 years. Following his retirement, he worked for another 20 years as a civilian firefighter at Fort A.P. Hill. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors, especially “tinkering” with small engine repair. Paul was a very generous man who would help anyone in need and could be regularly seen on Main Street at one of the vegetable vendors. Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Mary Emma McDonald and his second wife, Annette McDonald; his brothers, Benjamin “Buddy” McDonald, Charles “Chuck” McDonald and James “Jimmy” Polhamus; his sisters, Ruby Leech, Myrtle Mauzy and Inez Chenault and a step-daughter, Joni Loving. He is survived by his sons, Paul McDonald (Anna) and Mark McDonald (Tana); four grandchildren, Brian McDonald (Stacy), Kevin McDonald (Jacki), Joshua McDonald (Ashley) and Allison McDonald; a step granddaughter, Heather Loving (Brandon); his sisters, Velvedeen Medeiros and Marguriette Hillsgrove; six great grandchildren, Addison, Chase, Sadie, Marshall, Betty Joe, and Owen and two step great grandchildren, Isaiah and Jayvon. The family will receive friends at the Bowling Green chapel of Storke Funeral Home on Thursday, February 27th from 6:00 – 8:00pm. A funeral will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 28th at 11:00am. A reception will immediately follow at Milford Presbyterian Church. Graveside services, with military honors, will take place at 2:30pm at Shiloh Baptist Church, King George. Visitation & Funeral Service Information

The family will receive friends at the Bowling Green chapel of Storke Funeral Home on Thursday, February 27th from 6:00 – 8:00pm. A funeral will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 28th at 11:00am. A reception will immediately follow at Milford Presbyterian Church. Graveside services, with military honors, will take place at 2:30pm at Shiloh Baptist Church, King George.
