Thomas Gene Pennington, Sr., 68, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 in Fredericksburg, VA.

Born on February 23, 1957, in Mullins, West Virginia, Thomas moved to Virginia in the early 1980’s where he built a life rooted in hard work and deep connections with family and friends.  He dedicated over three decades to his career as a logger, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to his craft.

Beyond his profession, Thomas found joy in the company of those he loved.  He cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories with them.  For the past 12 years, he shared his life with his beloved partner, Angie.  His circle extended beyond immediate family to include many nieces, nephews, brothers-and sisters-in-law, and friends who became like family to him.

Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia (Johnson) Pennington; parents Bill and Lissie (Brooks) Pennington; his brothers Donald, Kenneth, William, Ronald and Alfred Pennington; his sisters Joanne (Pennington) Mullins, Juanita and Lois Pennington.

He is survived by his children Chasity Whitson (Herbert), Joshua Pennington, Douglas Johnson, Tina Pennington, Thomas (TJ) Pennington, Jr, Justin Pennington (Katie) and Hannah Pennington.  He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who will carry his memory forward.

Thomas’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.  May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him.

The family will receive friends from 12noon to 2pm on Tuesday, March 25 at Storke Funeral Home, King George Chapel.  A funeral service will begin at 2pm.
