Dorothy C. Upshaw, 88, of Ruther Glen, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, April 4, 2025.

Born and raised in Penola, Virginia, Dot was the beloved daughter of the late Felix Winston (Billy) Campbell and Catherine Allport Campbell Jarrell. She shared a lifetime of love and partnership with her late husband, William Franklin (Buck) Upshaw. Together they took over the operations of Campbell’s Country Club which celebrated 50 years in 1997 and later, the Feedlot Restaurant. These iconic businesses became staples of the community and reflected their dedication to hard work and community.

Dot is lovingly remembered by her children, Cathy Upshaw Crass (Roy), Robert Winston Upshaw (Penny)and her son and caretaker for many years, William Franklin Upshaw Jr., her granddaughters, Megan Upshaw and Jennifer Upshaw Porter (Ben) as well as her great grandson, Benjamin Franklin Porter II, her brother, Keith Winston Campbell and nephews, KW and Kasey.

Dot’s hospitality was extended to the many Virginia State Troopers that she welcomed into the restaurant and her home. Her legacy lives on in the generosity she extended, and many will fondly remember her personality and kindness. Dot was a member of Bowling Green Baptist Church for many years.

A visitation will be held from 6 – 8 pm on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Storke Funeral Home in Bowling Green. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Greenlawn Cemetery Pavilion.
