CPO Lorry J. Speare, USNR (Ret.), 74, of Woodford passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 8, 2025.  Lorry was born in Grand Forks, ND, son of the late William and Evelyn Hinds Speare.  He graduated from Rugby High School in 1969.  Lorry joined the US Navy shortly following graduation.  He was a retired Navy Seal having served his country honorably and faithfully for 24 years.  Lorry then followed his military service to serve as Range Safety Inspector from March 2002 to September 2023 at Fort A. P. Hill, Bowling Green until his second retirement.  He as also a member of the UDT/Seal Association.  Lorry enjoyed playing golf with his son and brothers.  He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Adriana Speare; his devoted son John Speare of Spencer, NC; three brothers Barry Speare of West Palm Beach, FL, Dave Speare (Elaine) of Walpole, MA and Don Speare (Cindy) of Grand Forks, ND and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 15 at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green with Pastor Mildred Mabe officiating.  Interment will follow in Historyland Memorial Park, King George with military honors.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. John 3:16 states: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Visitation & Funeral Service Information

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green with Pastor Mildred Mabe officiating.

Interment will follow in Historyland Memorial Park, King George with military honors.
