Anne Mills Brooks
Anne Mills Brooks, 95, passed away at home on Wednesday May 28, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
Anne was predeceased by parents, Peter and Marie Mills; twin brother, Bobby Mills, and sister, Jean Heflin. Anne was also predeceased by her husband, Rev. Kenneth Brooks, and daughter, Ellen Noblin. She is survived by daughters, Sharon Jones, Elsie Oliver, and Karen Hart (Jim); grandchildren, Jennifer Griffis (Gary), Marty Jones (Shawn), Krissy Roberts, Robert Noblin, Jr. and Justin Oliver; great-grandchildren, Hunter (Rachael), Megan, Haley, and Morgan Griffis, Kasey Kocher (Josh), Kenneth and Kaydin Roberts, Karlie Noblin, and Pailey and Elijah Brown; great-great-grandson, Chasen Griffis; several nieces and nephews; and many others, too numerous to mention, who Anne considered family.
Anne was born on August 15, 1929 and grew up in Ashland, VA. She was a bookkeeper at Wilson Bros. lumber company for 47 years until she retired in 2000. It was through Wilson Bros. that Anne met Kenny, and they were married for 58 years until his passing in 2020. Anne received a Bachelor of Theology degree from the Fredericksburg Bible Institute in 1985. She faithfully attended, and in later years led, Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle, a small country church in Bristersburg, VA for over 75 years. For the past 4 years, she attended Spotswood Baptist Church and enjoyed being a part of the “Sunshine Sisters” Connect Group. Anne’s faithful following of her Lord Jesus Christ was instrumental in drawing many to Him.
We would like to thank nurse Paula and the staff of At Home Health and Hospice who helped Anne through the last few months of her life. We are also forever thankful for care partners Precious, Emyli, and Melissa, several previous care partners, and the staff of Virginia Home Care Partners for 6 years of compassionate home care for both Kenny and Anne. In addition, we thank special friends Judy, Debbie, and Ethel, and the family members who spent countless caregiving hours dedicated to allowing Anne to age gracefully and pass peacefully at home.
The family will receive friends Friday June 6 from 6pm to 8pm at Mullins & Thompson Fredericksburg Chapel. A celebration of Anne’s life and a time of worship will be held at Spotswood Baptist Church on Saturday June 7 at 10am, with Dr. John Reale officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gideons International for the distribution of Bibles throughout the world – www.gideons.org
