Robert Gordon Kay, age 93, passed away on June 20, 2025. He was born in Delos, Virginia in Caroline County on November 21, 1931. He was the son of the late Luther Trice Kay and Mattie Wright Kay.

He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

Gordon was the founder of the R. G. Kay Fuel Oil Company Inc., and retired in 2001 after the business was purchased by his son-in-law and daughter. He continued working with the company until 2021.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marjorie Galyen Kay, his daughter Linda Kay Tate, his son-in-law Eddie Tate, his son Robert Kay, Jr, his daughter-in-law Judy Kay, his grandson Mark Tate, Mark’s wife Amy LeMaster Tate, his beloved great-granddaughter Bristol Tate, and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 2:00pm Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Carmel Baptist Church with burial at the church cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Carmel Baptist Church cemetery fund, P. O. Box 52, Ruther Glen VA 22546.
