John S. Cheadle, 83, of King George, passed away on June 21, 2025.

A lifelong resident of King George, John was deeply invested in his community. He served as a King George County Supervisor, a member of the Planning Commission, and a member of the Equalization Board. He also served on the RADCO board in Fredericksburg and on the Board of Directors at King George State Bank and Union Bank & Trust.

John was a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University with a BSEE degree. He worked at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren and then found his passion in real estate. Formerly a licensed Certified General Real Estate Appraiser, he remained active as a real estate owner-broker with Service Reality, Inc. in King George. His enthusiasm for the business and dedication to his clients never wavered.

Outside of work, John found joy on the water. He enjoyed his beach house in Colonial Beach and treasured days spent boating and fishing. He loved gathering with family and friends to enjoy eating bushels of crabs at cookouts. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed skeet shooting and hunting, particularly for geese, quail, and pheasant.

To his great-grandchildren, he was affectionately known as “GG.” He was the heart of the holidays and family celebrations, always the one to make them memorable and full of fun. He also shared a special bond with his beloved dogs, Linus and Lucy.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Emma Ruth Cheadle and Thomas S. Cheadle; and wife Thelma Chenault Cheadle.

He is survived by his children, Charlene Monroe (Jason), Melanie Jewell, and Mark Cheadle; grandchildren, Phillip Gibbs III (Chrissy) and Karen Turcios (Jose); and seven great-grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered by his real estate partners and close friends, Carroll and Janice Springer; and friends Ellen Brown, Shawn Palivoda and his many caregivers and workers who will truly miss him.

A funeral service to celebrate John’s life will be held at 11am on Monday, June 30, 2025 at Storke Funeral Home, King George. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private interment will take place at a later date.
