Gordon Mack Pollard, Sr., 68, of Fredericksburg, VA passed away on June 25, 2025.

Gordon proudly served his country with unwavering dedication, retiring from the United States Army in 2001 at the rank of Sergeant Major. Over his distinguished career, he served overseas and worked tirelessly to protect his troops. He was recognized with numerous awards for his service and valor, including the Legion of Merit Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, three Meritorious Service Medals, five Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, eight Good Conduct Medals, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), the Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), National Defense Service Medal, four Overseas Service Ribbons, four Noncommissioned Officer’s Professional Development Ribbons, and the Army Service Ribbon.

Gordon’s commitment to the Army shaped his life and left a legacy of honor, leadership, and devotion to duty. Even in retirement, he remained proud of his service and the bonds he forged with fellow soldiers. After retirement from the United States Army, he continued his commitment to National Security for the Department of Defense from February 2012 to April 2023.

Beyond his military career, Gordon obtained his Bachelors of Science in Business Management on December 15th, 2002. Gordon also enjoyed cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers with family. He developed a love for cigars in the 1980s, often spending time enjoying them as a way to relax and unwind. Gordon had a passion for shooting, earning expert marksmanship badges in both rifle and pistol. He found great enjoyment in spending time at the range. Above all, he was the rock of his family – always looking out for those he loved.

Gordon was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Pollard Pryor; sisters, Sylvia and Lucy; and daughter, Bianca.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Dagmar Pollard; children, Gordon Jr. (Demarie), Lee (Sarah), and Jamahl; sister, Shirley M. Williams; brother, Sylvester L. Pollard; grandchildren, Jaraell, Amada, Sophia, and Zynell; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as his lifelong friend, Clayton Purce.

The viewing for family and friends will take place from 11:00am-12:00pm on 12 July at Salem Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at noon with Rev. Leonard G. Bland officiating. Interment will take place immediately afterwards at Historyland Memorial Park with Military Honors.
