Clarice Imogen(e) Driver of Bowling Green, Virginia, passed away peacefully at Spring Arbor of Fredericksburg on June 24th, aged 99. Born in Sparta to parents Emmett and Sarah Ruth Beazley, she grew up on a farm with siblings, Earl, Gordon, Elaine, and Wayne. She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Driver, and is survived by her daughter, Ruth Ann Bartels, her son, Raymond L. Driver, and two grandchildren, Harrison Bartels and Sarah Beth Driver.

When Raymond and Imogene married, she worked as a secretary at the U. S. Treasury Department in Washington, DC. She was a mother and homemaker until she was widowed in 1976 having lived in Maryland for over thirty years. In 1982 she moved to Bowling Green to be close to her Beazley family, where she lived until relocating to an assisted living facility in Fredericksburg.

Imogene attended and was a long-time member of Salem Baptist Church in Sparta. She will be remembered for her love of animals, especially dogs, her favorite pet being a German Shepherd named Heidi. She loved to read, especially mysteries and historical accounts of World War II. Christmas cookies and “brown bread” were a Driver family treat for decades.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

A memorial service will be held at the Storke Funeral Home in Bowling Green at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 19, 2025.

It would be deeply appreciated if donations be made to Salem Baptist Church or the ASPCA.
