Show Obituaries Show Guestbook Show Photos QR Code PrintDarrell Lee Farrier, 69, passed away Sunday May 3, 2020. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA, to Willbert and Anna Mae Farrier, who predeceased him. He is also predeceased by his sister Connie Rawie.
He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-five years, Karen Lucy Paradise Farrier; daughters, Shannon Updike (Chris), Megan Johnson (Craig), and Jessica Winters (Matt); a son Fred Burks; grandchildren Leigha & Samantha Winters and Reagan & Lucy Johnson; a brother, Ron (Debbie); a sister Carol Lynn Wieseckel; and many nieces and a nephew.
Darrell attended the University of Pittsburgh and served his country as a member of the federal government retiring after thirty years of humble service with the FBI. Darrell was a man of deep faith in Jesus Christ, which led him to act compassionately and live generously. He displayed integrity in his relationships and invested in others always hoping the best was yet to come in each of us.
The family remembers the life changing impacts Darrell made upon them. He provided a solid foundation of love and offered hope and opportunity through difficult times. He will be remembered for his unyielding love, abiding presence, and faithful dedication to his family. His love for his wife and children may have been outshined only by his love for the grandchildren, each of whose faces could brighten any challenging day. He loved each one deeply.
Darrell’s love of and faithful service to the Lord extended into the communities in which he lived. He served as an Elder in the Christian Church as well as establishing the Maranatha Ministries Food Pantry in Ladysmith, VA. He was always concerned with the needs of those around him.
He’ll be remembered for his love of the Washington Nationals and all other Pittsburgh teams.
Services will be private. Prayers and condolences may be shared with the family. A Celebration of Life will be held as a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local food bank in Darrell’s honor and memory.
