She was well known and well loved in Caroline and faithfully served with the Bowling Green Volunteer Rescue Squad for 20 years. She was currently serving as Captain of the Rescue Squad. She and her husband owned and operated Bud’s Towing in Caroline County. Tammie is survived by her husband, Mark Giles, Sr; her children, Karen Taylor (Chris Lee), Kristina Combs (Chris Thomas), Chris Leadbetter (Taylor Stanley) and Mark Giles, Jr; her mother, Nita Mills; two sisters, Diana Barton and Jenny Barrea (Mike); her brother, John Herring and four grandchildren, Trae Matthew Thomas, Blake James Thomas, Jase Page Leadbetter and Mariah Gracelyn Thomas. She was preceded in death by her brother, Duane Herring and her niece, Bonita Barton. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 15th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Bowling Green chapel of Storke Funeral Home. Current Covid-19 restrictions will be applied and the staff will give instructions to those that attend. A funeral service will follow on Saturday, May 16th at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. All are invited to attend. The family will be in the chapel and all others will listen to the service from their vehicles as the service will be broadcast. Fire and Rescue apparatus and tow trucks will be given parking instructions as they arrive. Flowers are welcome or donations in her memory may be made to the Bowling Green Vol. Rescue Squad P.O. 621 Bowling Green VA 22427.
