Joyce Thomas Dempsey, born Sept 5, 1930, to James and Bessie Thomas of Fredericksburg, went to be with the Lord on Jan 9, 2019. Joyce was a 1947 graduate of James Monroe High School and resided in King George County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Willis A. Dempsey; her sister, Gertrude Rice and her brother Vincent Thomas. Survivors include her daughter, Teresa Dempsey of the home; a son Edward Heck (Rita) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; her daughter, Deborah Heck of King George, and stepsons Rev. W. Carlin Dempsey, (Linda) of Fredericksburg, and Steve F. Dempsey (Charlene) of King George; her sister Marion Rook of North Haven CT; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday, Jan 11^th from 6 pm – 8 pm at Mountain View Baptist Church, King George.

Her funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan 12^th at 12:00 pm, also at the church. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fredericksburg.
