Olivia Battle


Graham, 57, of Arlington passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020. 

Born in Huntsville, Alabama, Olivia was the daughter of an Army soldier. As a child, she lived in many states and three times in Germany. Olivia was an excellent student and a track hurdles champion in high school. In addition to Girl Scouting, Olivia served in student government. 

Olivia was appointed in 2015 as the Ethics Advisor for the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Prior to her IMF appointment, Olivia was the Director of Ethics for the International Fund for Agricultural Development in Rome. She had more than 25 years of experience in legal and oversight in organizations worldwide. She served as a Judge Advocate Officer in the U.S. Army, at the World Bank and the United Nations. Olivia was a lifelong Girl Scout. Olivia served as Board Member for the Girl Scouts of the USA and the Board of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. She also served as the USA Girl Scouts Overseas Chairman for the West Pacific Region headquarter in Japan. 

Family and friends were important to Olivia and anyone fortunate enough to spend time with her and Mark counted themselves lucky to have had the opportunity to indulge in her home-cooked meals, Thanksgiving celebrations, book club meetings or gatherings with visiting family members.  

Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Mark Graham; her father, CSM (Ret) Willie E. Battle, Jr.; her siblings, LTC (Ret) Felicia Carter; MSG (Ret) Willie E. Battle III; Alicia Battle; Delicia Battle and Ophelia W. Battle; her step daughters, Erika Graham and Meaghan Gumpert; her grandchildren, Avrey and Madden Ferczak, Bentley Gumpert and Caleb Elliser; her nephews, William Battle, Willie E. Battle IV and her nieces, Ophelia C. Battle, Olivia Yvette Battle, Chelsea Carter and Cheryl Alicia Battle. She was preceded in death by her mother, Cheryl J. Battle.

 The family will receive friends at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, Leesburg VA on Monday, October 5th from 6:00 – 8:00pm. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel the following day (Tuesday, October 6that 11:00am. Burial in Arlington National Cemetery will be at a later date. All current COVID-19 protocols, such as masks, social distancing, and 50% capacity will be followed. For those that can not attend, the funeral service will be broadcast on the funeral home’s Facebook page, “Remarkable Lives.”  Updates will be posted on Storke Funeral Home’s website. The family will receive friends at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, Leesburg VA on Monday, October 5th from 6:00 – 8:00pm. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel the following day (Tuesday October 6that 11:00am. Burial in Arlington National Cemetery will be at a later date.
