Born in Texas, Flo had been a resident of Bowling Green for many years. He served in Vietnam and retired from the United States Army after 20 years of service. Following his military career, he came to work as a civil servant at Fort A.P. Hill, retiring after 28 years of service. Flo was extremely active in his community and was a “fixture” among his fellow residents. Everyone knew Flo by his blue truck, or lately his Suburban, with the personalized license plates, RECON.
He served Bowling Green for many years on the Planning Commission. He was a member of the Reedy Church Ruritan Club where he was a past President and Lt. Governor of Zone 6 of the Chesapeake District. He served as Quartermaster for many years for the VFW Post 10295, served in the American Legion Post 221, and was active with the Caroline County Agricultural Fair. In addition to his family, Flo is survived by many community friends who considered him family. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 7th at 1:00pm at the Caroline County Fairgrounds. 8332 County Fair Lane, Ruther Glen VA 22546. Seating is limited, so bring a lawn chair.
