Joseph “Butch” Schepers, 75, claimed the promise of resurrection on January 24, 2019, with the love of his life, Lolita and daughter by his side. Joe is flying with the angels and Heaven is now his home.
Surviving Joe are his soul mate and beloved wife, Lolita; daughters, Susan R. Tourville (Bruce) and Wendy S. Stumpf; 3 grandchildren, Crystal, Chuckie, and David; 3 great grandchildren, Brooke, Jamie, and Finn; sisters, Nancy Johnson (Herman) and Carol Hilleary (Gary). He was preceded in death by his son, Joey.
Joe was an amazing, generous, and loving man who never hesitated to help anyone in need, even when he was struggling with his own illness. It was his mission to serve God.
He spent 31 years in the USMC and retired as Master Gunnery Sergeant. He also spent over 30 years in the Civil Service. At age 13, Joe restored his first car, a “Crossley” and went on to have his own auto repair business.
He built two airplanes: Miss Maryland T28A and Miss MicroProse T28B. He was a mechanical and electronic genius. If it could be fixed, he fixed it.
He was the happiest riding his case loader or backhoe knocking down trees and clearing land.
