Son of the late Linwood Thomas and Hazel Rose Madison, he was born on a farm in King George, Virginia on December 13, 1930. He joined the Army on his 18th birthday. He served in the Army 1948-1953 as military police and in the Korean conflict (9/52-12/53.) He then served in the Air Force Reserve as security patrol 1953-1980. He retired from McDonnell Douglas Aerospace after 27 years where he worked as the Manager of Human Resources and Administration.
He loved his family!!! Survivors include long-time companion, Elaine Powers, children Linda Hobbs (Craig), Ronald Madison (Jan) and Michael Madison; 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; siblings, Maxine, L.M., Melvin and Gene Madison; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Grethel Whittaker, Carrie “Sis” Frazier, Linwood Madison, Billy Madison, Margaret Jones, Margie Hall, Audrey Merriman and Jesse Madison.
Jim was a devoted fan of country music and picked at guitar, banjo and ukulele.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2020, at Montague Baptist Church, King George, with the service at 1:30. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
