Show Obituaries Show Guestbook Show Photos QR Code PrintClare Nolan Learn, 89 years old, passed away on Jan 23, 2021. She was born in New York City, the only child of Timothy and Marcella Nolan. She graduated from Juniata College located in Huntingdon, PA and was delighted to attend her 50th class reunion of 2002. Along with a fellow classmate, she acted as fund agent for the Juniata Scholarship Fund.
Mrs. Learn retired as a secretary from the naval base at Dahlgren. She was also employed at the King George Department of Social Services as an Eligibility Worker. As a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist church, she was a choir participant, served as chairperson of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee and was secretary of the Admin Board. She was a volunteer with the Red Cross Blood Mobile located at the Dahlgren naval base.
Square dancing was one of her favorite activities. Her other interests included the Elder Study program held at the University of Mary Washington, the AARP King George chapter and attended the water exercises held at Dahlgren pool. During her retirement years, she traveled to many European countries and enjoyed learning about other cultures.
Her survivors include her son Timothy, his wife Jill, granddaughter Erin and husband Justin and two great grandchildren Beckett and Sebastian. Also surviving are her daughter in law, Linda Zepp Learn, and grandchildren Jen and Selena Learn. All her grandchildren were “the apple of her eye” and her great grandchildren her newest joy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Learn and her youngest son Paul. Due to COVID, a family only gathering of remembrance and burial will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church.
